Client: Bosom Babies

Project: design a catalog-style website showcasing natural mothering products and baby products. Site owner Cheryl Kasianiuk wanted a site that was simple, appealing, and relaxed in tone—sort of like one mom talking to another about what products were best.

Because search engine optimization services were included in site design, the challenge for Bennaco was to optimize the site for high search rankings without losing the relaxed, conversational tone of the writing.

Although the SEO goal was to make the site visible to searchers looking for baby products in Alberta, the site has succeeded far beyond that level. Here is some feedback from Cheryl, in the form of excerpts from her email messages:

Final Note: Recently, when a major movie company was shooting in Edmonton, they arrived at Cheryl's store to buy fitted diapers to use as camera-lens covers. When Cheryl asked how they'd found her, they replied that they had searched on the Internet, and her site popped right up.

Before coming to Bennaco, Tina Caron, owner of Power Plus, had worked with two other web design firms, but they just couldn't nail the concept she wanted. Her comments about the Bennaco design:

Note: Bennaco also did the latest Power Plus brochure, and will be launching the Power Plus e-newsletter in 2006.

The site needed to explain, in clear layperson's terms, the benefits of using ACE's highly specialized products. The site also needed to provide enough product information to show how ACE's products are superior to the competition's. An extended "Tips for Buyers" section was created to provide further opportunities to educate buyers about what's important in a security laminate or film.

This site was designed by others, and the content revised by Bennaco. When the site's owner, Safety Results Ltd. published a book, it was natural to add e-commerce capacity to the site. Although an off-the-shelf shopping cart and third-party payment processing were chosen for the e-commerce implementation, it was important to the site's owner to maintain the look and feel of the site through the buying process.
